Highlights and Successes
Geo Cement began their cementing operations in September of 2008. The first well cemented for Vulcan Power Company (Vulcan) was in the Salt Wells Field south of Fallon, Nevada. Prior to formation of Geo Cement, Vulcan contracted with Halliburton Services for their cementing service requirements.
Drilling continued in the Salt Wells area and Geo Cement successfully cemented 8 production wells and 1 corehole, providing a 70% savings in cost from using outside cement service companies. Vulcan moved their drilling program to the Patua field near Hazen, Nevada in 2009 and drilled 3 additional production wells which Geo Cement cemented successfully. The Company continues to provide cement services for Gradient Resources at the Patua site, which will see the construction and operation of it’s first power plant in the coming 18 months.
Dennis C. Shaver
Director of Cementing Operations
Dennis Shaver has over 30 years of experience in the oil, gas and geothermal cementing industry. Mr. Shaver started his career in 1980 with Halliburton Energy Services as a Sr. Service Supervisor, and finished his tenure at Halliburton as a Field Service Coordinator and Assistant Manager. In 1997, Mr. Shaver became an owner of his own International Cement Consulting business and successfully completed two major contracts in which he designed and built cement companies for the Mexican and Belizean Governments. Mr. Shaver was also a Cementing Engineer in the Gulf of Mexico for Schlumberger on offshore drilling rigs. Dennis has over 35 certification courses and honors completed in Cementing, Health and Safety Leadership and Team Management. Mr. Shaver also has operational experience in Cementing, Production Enhancement (Stimulation), Tools and Testing Services, and Nitrogen Services. Mr. Shaver joined Gradient Resources Inc. in 2007 with the charter to create and build GEO Cement, a fully operational cementing company and bulk plant facility in Fallon, Nevada. Geo Cement is recognized as state of the art technology, taking less than 1 year from design to its implementation. Mr. Shaver continues to manage Geo Cement providing leadership in business development, cementing operations, engineering and field operations.
